Windows 365 Enterprise
A per-user Windows Cloud PC managed through Intune like any physical device — no seat limit, full policy control.
Overview
Windows 365 Enterprise gives each person a full Windows desktop in the Microsoft cloud. It behaves like a normal managed PC — same Entra ID sign-in, same Intune policies — but there's no physical machine to buy, image or replace. It is the plan for organisations that already run their devices through Intune: no seat cap, the same management surface as your laptops, and the option to connect Cloud PCs to your own network.
When it fits
The right choice when Cloud PCs need to sit inside your existing device estate: managed by the same Intune policies, covered by Conditional Access and Autopatch, and — where required — able to reach on-premises file servers, apps or domain controllers. For a smaller organisation that wants a quick, self-contained setup without Intune, use Windows 365 Business.
How it differs from Business
- Seat limit — none. Business is capped at 300 Cloud PCs.
- Management — everything runs through Intune, alongside your physical devices. Business can be run from a lightweight built-in console instead.
- Networking — an optional Azure Network Connection puts Cloud PCs on your vNet / on-premises network with Hybrid Entra Join. Business uses Microsoft-hosted networking only.
- Images — upload and assign your own custom images, not just the Microsoft gallery.
- Operations — provisioning policies, automated on/off-boarding, Endpoint analytics and utilisation reporting.
Cloud PC configurations
Each licence is tied to one fixed-spec Cloud PC. Sizes:
| vCPU | RAM | Storage options | Typical role |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 vCPU | 4 GB | 64 / 128 / 256 GB | Light task work, web apps, front-of-house |
| 2 vCPU | 8 GB | 128 / 256 GB | Standard office and Microsoft 365 productivity |
| 4 vCPU | 16 GB | 128 / 256 / 512 GB | Power users, heavy multitasking, light development |
| 8 vCPU | 32 GB | 128 / 256 / 512 GB | Large datasets, demanding line-of-business apps |
| 16 vCPU | 64 GB | 512 GB / 1 TB | Engineering, data science, build agents |
| 32 vCPU | 128 GB | 512 GB / 1 TB | Very heavy compute workloads |
GPU-enabled Cloud PCs are available for graphics-intensive work (CAD, rendering, GPU compute). Resizing to a larger or smaller Cloud PC is done in place without rebuilding the desktop.
